After the arrest of Imran, the Indian bridge team was strongly felicitated on the violence in Pakistan.


India’s 32-member bridge team also includes Kiran Nadar, philanthropist and wife of HCL founder Shiv Nadar, and veteran Rajeshwar Tiwari. Rajeshwar, who has also participated in many international competitions across the world including the Asian Games, was part of the team that won the gold medal in the open section of the Asian Bridge Federation and Middle East Championships.

While the whole of Pakistan is burning after the dramatic arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, Indian bridge players were accorded a royal reception at a five-star hotel in Lahore. India’s 32-member bridge team also includes Kiran Nadar, philanthropist and wife of HCL founder Shiv Nadar, and veteran Rajeshwar Tiwari. Rajeshwar, who has also participated in many international competitions across the world including the Asian Games, was part of the team that won the gold medal in the open section of the Asian Bridge Federation and Middle East Championships. India swept the competition by winning all the four gold medals at stake.

The Indian team was expected to be nervous in the wake of violence in Pakistan following Imran’s arrest but Tiwari told PTI that the organizers have ensured that they feel completely safe at the Pearl Continental Hotel. Tiwari said, “They have taken special care of us since we entered Pakistan by crossing the Wagah border. The president of the Pakistan Bridge Federation had come to the border to welcome us.

“The competition was not top-notch but in terms of hospitality, it was the best experience we have played in foreign tournaments,” he said. Before boarding the flight from Amritsar airport, Tiwari told PTI, “India We are also known for our hospitality but when they come here, it will be difficult for us to match them.

Seven people, including Kiran Nadar, had returned to India on Saturday. After the arrest of Imran, the Indian team was asked to stay in the hotel itself, but before that Tiwari and the team members visited many places in Lahore. Apart from hosts Pakistan and India, teams from UAE, Jordan, Bangladesh and Palestine participated in the competition.
