Beijing. China, which has not opposed Russia’s attack against Ukraine, is now trying to establish ‘peace’ between the two. Under this strategy, Chinese President Xi Jinping is planning to talk to his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky. Similarly, Jinping can visit Russia next week, where there is every possibility of serious talks with President Vladimir Putin on ending the war. If China ends the war by becoming a ‘peacemaker’ between the two countries, it will be a major diplomatic defeat for America.
The Wall Street Journal reported on Monday that Chinese leader Xi Jinping plans to hold talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for the first time since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The newspaper cited people familiar with the matter as saying they would speak to Zelensky after Xi visits Moscow next week to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin.
China is on the target of western countries for not opposing Russia
Jinping can play an important role in ending the war going on for more than a year through his visit to Russia. China’s arrival as a ‘peacemaker’ becomes all the more special because China has been constantly criticized by Western countries for supporting Russia and not opposing Putin’s attack on Ukraine.

Russia’s Tass news agency reported on January 30 that Putin had invited Xi for a visit in the spring. The Wall Street Journal reported last month that the trip to Moscow could take place in April or early May.
China’s foreign ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the possibility of Xi visiting Moscow, and the Kremlin declined to comment. No other information was immediately available about this. Sources familiar with the matter declined to be identified because of the sensitivity of the issue.
