Churning in Congress regarding cabinet expansion in Karnataka, 20 more leaders can be made ministers

Karnataka Cabinet Expansion: Top Congress leaders on Thursday (May 25) discussed the expansion of the state cabinet with Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar. Sources gave this information. Both the leaders met Congress in-charge of Karnataka Randeep Singh Surjewala, party’s organization general secretary KC Venugopal. After this, he also held separate meetings with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge at his residence.

Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar then held a meeting with Randeep Surjewala at the party’s Gurdwara Rakabganj Road office to discuss the names that could be included in the expanded state cabinet. Sources say that about 20 more ministers are likely to be inducted in the Karnataka cabinet. Another round of discussion will be held before the state cabinet is finalised.

Departments have not yet been divided

DK Shivakumar reached the national capital on Wednesday evening, while Siddaramaiah reached Delhi late at night. Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar were sworn in as the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka respectively on 20 May along with eight cabinet ministers. However, till now the portfolios have not been distributed to the ministers. The high command had approved the first list of eight ministers, while the initial plan was to include around 28 MLAs in the cabinet.

There can be a maximum of 34 ministers

Sources said that the names of only those MLAs were approved, who represented all classes and were senior most and whose names were not objected. There is a buzz that Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar are putting forward the names of their close MLAs for ministerial posts. Karnataka can have a maximum of 34 ministers and it will be difficult for the Congress to satisfy all the candidates. Let us tell you that the Congress has recently concluded karnataka assembly election It won 135 out of 224 seats, ousting the BJP from power.
