Congress Cut Expenses: The Congress party, which is struggling with the lack of donations, has advised its officials to cut expenses. On Wednesday (December 28), on the day of Congress Foundation Day, party treasurer Pawan Bansal issued a circular to the national office bearers giving suggestions to reduce expenses. In the circular issued by Bansal, instructions have been given to cut the expenses of canteen i.e. tea-water, stationery, electricity, newspapers, fuel etc. in the party office. General secretaries and MPs in charge have been advised to travel by air at their convenience.
According to the rule, the national secretaries of the Congress will be paid train tickets for traveling up to 1400 kilometers. The cheapest long-haul air tickets will be given, that too only twice a month! Along with the instructions, Bansal has also sought suggestions from the general secretaries regarding further reduction in expenses.
Such instruction has already come
Congress leader Alok Sharma has said that “Whether the funds are low or the expenses are high, there must be less. By the way, BJP has tightened its grip on all other parties in the matter of donations”. Such guidelines are issued from time to time to keep in Let us tell you that such a directive was issued even four years ago, when Ahmed Patel became the treasurer of the Congress. According to sources, due to the continuous shortage of funds, the Congress has again become serious about cutting expenses.
Congress is facing shortage of money
Congress’s funding crisis started only after it was ousted from power at the Center in 2014. Even after losing power, the expenses of the oldest party remained the same. Due to paucity of funds, the work on the new Congress headquarters has been stuck for many years. At present, there are chief ministers of the party in three states, including two states, a total of nine states have assembly elections next year. These days the party is spending a lot of money on Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra. After the completion of the first phase of the yatra in January next year, the second phase from West India to Northeast may begin. Congress session is to be held in Raipur in February. Overall, in view of the expenses to be incurred in the new year, the Congress Treasurer has had to issue a fresh cut order.
