Demonstration against Imran’s release in Pakistan, thousands of PDM workers reached Supreme Court, PM Shahbaz called NSC meeting

Activists of the ruling Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) on Monday demonstrated in front of the Judges Gate of the Supreme Court against the ‘preferential treatment’ of the judiciary to former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan. Activists raised slogans against the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and at some places in support of the Pakistan Army. A three-judge bench of the Supreme Court (SC) adjourned the hearing on a plea by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) seeking review of its April 4 order to hold elections to the Punjab Legislative Assembly for a week on May 14. was asked to consider.

PM Shahbaz called a meeting of NSC tomorrow

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called a meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) in the presence of all service chiefs for Tuesday (tomorrow). The meeting will deliberate on the prevailing security situation in the country following the recent incidents of mob attacks on military and government buildings. DawnNewsTV’s chief reporter Sanaullah Khan quoted his sources as saying that the army may propose to the government to set up “special courts” for the trial of accused persons involved in vandalizing military buildings. The meeting will also be attended by the Ministers of External Affairs, Defence, Finance, Interior and Information.
