Imran Khan is likely to appear before the Lahore High Court on Monday in connection with cases related to the violence that broke out after the former prime minister’s arrest and the burning of a corps commander’s house. Despite being granted bail on Friday, Khan had returned to his Lahore residence on Saturday after spending hours at the Islamabad High Court premises fearing re-arrest. The Islamabad High Court had granted bail to 70-year-old Khan, barring him from arrest in all cases registered after May 9, and asked him to approach the Lahore High Court on May 15.

Khan was arrested by the National Accountability Bureau on May 9 in the Al Qadir Trust case. The Supreme Court had declared Khan’s arrest from the Islamabad High Court premises illegal and referred the matter to the High Court. A senior leader of Khan’s party told ‘PTI-Bhasha’ on Sunday, “Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Khan was arrested in six cases registered in Lahore and other parts of Punjab province after May 9.” He is likely to appear before the Lahore High Court to seek bail before 2016. He said Khan held a meeting with party leaders at his Zaman Park residence here and discussed the party’s future strategy.
