Mumbai: Bollywood’s famous lyricist Javed Akhtar recently launched an Urdu poetry album titled ‘Shayrana-Sartaj’ with his wife Shabana Azmi. During this, he talked about the importance of Urdu language and its development. He had said during the poetry album launch that, ‘Urdu is not of Pakistan or Egypt, it is of ‘Hindustan’.’

During this, Javed Akhtar had told about the role of Punjab in the importance of Urdu language. In this entire event, he talked about poems in ‘Urdu’ language and Dr. Also praised Satinder Sartaj.

During the event, Javed Akhtar said, “Urdu has not come from any other place. It is our own language. It is not spoken outside India. Pakistan also came into existence after partition from India, earlier it was only a part of India. That’s why the language is not spoken outside India.”

He said, “Punjab has a great contribution towards Urdu and it is the language of India! But why did you leave this language? Reasons for Partition? Because of Pakistan? Urdu should be given attention. Earlier there was only Hindustan – later Pakistan got separated from Hindustan. Now Pakistan has said that Kashmir is ours. Would you believe so? I do not think so’! Similarly Urdu is an Indian language and it remains so. Nowadays in our country the youth of the new generation speak less Urdu and Hindi. Today the focus is more on English. We should talk in Hindi as it is our national language.”

Even before this, Javed Akhtar had expressed his opinion about Urdu language in a literary program organized in Lahore.
