The team won 5 out of 6 matches in WPL, but won hearts with its performance

New Delhi. In the Women’s Premier League, Smriti Mandhana’s Royal Challengers Bangalore have won only one match in 6 matches so far. But, many young players of the team have impressed with their performance. One of them is Shreyanka Patil, who plays domestic cricket for Karnataka. It was because of Shreyanka’s strong performance in the domestic ODI tournament that RCB bought her in the WPL 2023 auction. She was the second highest wicket taker for Karnataka.

Shreyanka Patil showed her ability against Mumbai Indians in the debut WPL match itself. Playing at number-8, he had scored 23 runs in 15 balls. Shreyanka may be of small stature, but she takes big shots. In this innings, he showed a sample of it. Strong players like Sophie Devine and Ellyse Perry also became admirers of Shreyanka after seeing this innings.

How Shreyanka became a cricketer?
According to ESPNcricinfo, his father Rajesh Patil has a big hand in Shreyanka becoming a cricketer. He himself has been a cricketer and used to run an academy. Where Shreyanka used to practice batting with a hanging ball for hours. This passion of Shreyanka inspired her father to make her a cricketer. Shreyanka initially tried her hand at batting as well as fast bowling, wicketkeeping and leg-spin. But, eventually became an off-spinner. Because then there was no off-spinner in Karnataka’s Under-14 team.

left parents house for cricket
Shreyanka Patil started training from Dravid-Padukone Center of Excellence Center in Bangalore. There, such a relationship was formed with coach Arjun Dev that he became his mentor and 3 years ago when Arjun decided to open his own academy, Shreyanka became the first player to join that academy. However, this academy was far away from Shreyanka’s house. In such a situation, he decided to leave his parents’ house and stay alone near the academy, initially his mother opposed it. But then agreed. Shreyanka benefited from this. She made it to the senior Karnataka team and was then picked by RCB in the very first season of the Women’s Premier League.
