NIA team probing threats received by Nitin Gadkari reaches Nagpur


Threat calls to Nitin Gadkari: The NIA team reached Nagpur on Thursday (May 25) to investigate the matter of threat and extortion to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. In this case, the police have arrested a murder convict lodged in Karnataka jail. According to the police, Jayesh Pujari alias Kanta is accused of making calls from a jail in Belgaum, Karnataka.

Let us tell you that on January 14, accused Jayesh Pujari had demanded Rs 100 crore from Gadkari, claiming to be a member of the Dawood Ibrahim gang. After this, he made a second call on March 21 demanding Rs 10 crore. He was then brought to Nagpur on 28 March, where the police took legal action against him under the Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).

The case was handed over to the NIA by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Police investigation found that he had links with Lashkar-e-Taiba operatives and had also taken arms training from militants in the country’s northeast. After this, the NIA was instructed by the Ministry of Home Affairs to start the investigation. The NIA team has so far taken the case papers of two crimes registered in Dhantoli police station in this case. He said that he would decide whether Kantha needed to be arrested immediately.
