In fact, on Thursday, an aide of Tendulkar filed a complaint in this regard at the West Zone Cyber Police Station. The complainant stated that he came across an online advertisement of a pharmaceutical company, which claimed that Sachin Tendulkar was endorsing its product.
Along with this, the police was also informed about a website ‘sachinhealth.in’, which was promoting these products by wrongly using Tendulkar’s picture. The written complaint states that since Tendulkar had never given permission to the company to use his name and photographs and was maligning his image, he directed his associate to take legal action.
The police is probing the matter by registering an FIR against unknown persons under sections 420 (cheating), 465 (forgery) and 500 (defamation) of the Indian Penal Code, besides the Information Technology Act.
