US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has said that he has spoken with his Russian counterpart regarding the destruction of an American drone over the Black Sea. It was the first phone conversation between Austin and Russian Defense Secretary Sergei Shoigu since October. “I just spoke on the phone with my Russian counterpart Shoigu,” Austin said. Wherever international law permits, the United States will continue to operate flights there. During this, the Russian Defense Minister said that if America takes any provocation in future, then Russia will also give a ‘appropriate answer’ to it.

The White House and the Pentagon strongly condemned the attack. NATO’s supremo informed the NATO member countries about this. This is the first time since the height of the Cold War that an American aircraft was shot down by a Russian aircraft.
