Days after a Russian Sukhoi-27 fighter jet collided with an American MQ-9 drone over the Black Sea, the US military released footage of a drone incident with Russia. The US military had said that the US Air Force unmanned drone crashed after the collision. Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry offered a different claim. Let us tell you that in the past, two Russian Sukhoi-27 jets flew in international airspace in what the US military described as ‘reckless interception of an American spy drone’. It states that Russian fighter jets dumped fuel on the MQ-9, possibly trying to damage it. The Meriki military said that after about 30 to 40 minutes, at 7.03 am (0603 GMT), the jet collided with the drone, causing it to crash.
US Air Force General James Hecker said the MQ-9 aircraft was conducting routine operations in international airspace when it was intercepted and hit by a Russian aircraft, resulting in a crash and the total loss of the drone. The US military further said the crash followed a pattern of “dangerous actions” by Russian pilots operating near aircraft flown by the US and its allies, including over the Black Sea. It warned that such “aggressive action” could lead to unintended escalation.
