Where is the coronavirus that has swallowed many families hiding?

Long queues of patients outside the hospital.. people struggling for oxygen cylinders and breathing of their loved ones. In the year 2021, the second wave of Kovid had killed crores of people.

Even after this, many variants of this virus came and people’s immunity continued to be affected. To get rid of this virus, governments around the world imposed many restrictions. Rules like lockdown to work from home were brought. But still every year Corona kept spreading with its new variants.

However, a relieving news is coming out that except the XBB variant, the rest of the variants of coronavirus have started disappearing. The ending variants also include sub-variants of Omicron, which had increased the number of infected in the last few months.

Many variants of Corona are now ending

Experts say that genome sequencing is continuously decreasing in India. This report of INSACOG has been prepared on the basis of the same sequencing. On the basis of this report, it would not be wrong to say that the corona virus has started coming under control with the passage of time and many of its variants are now ending.

According to this report, all the variants of Kovid have disappeared in the state of Central, West and South parts of India. Talking about the last month, in February 2023, only the XBB variant has been confirmed in 100 percent of the samples. At the same time, XBB variants have been found in 50 percent of the samples in the northeastern states and BA.2.75 variants in the other 50. Both these variants of Kovid are of Omicron only. Apart from these, patients of BQ variant along with XBB are also being found in North India.

How dangerous is the XBB variant of the corona virus

The XBB variant of Kovid has so far knocked in about 28 countries of the world. A six-month-long study on how dangerous this sub-variant can be shows that this sub-variant of corona only comes with mild symptoms.

In the month of August 2022, XBB started infecting people in India and other parts of Asia. A study conducted by experts from National Institute of Virology and Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune analyzed 494 patients infected with Omicron subvariants BA.2.10, BA.2.38, BA.2.75.

It was found in this study that BQ.1 and XBB variants are recombinants of BA.2.10.1 and BA.2.75. According to the study, XBB has been found to be less dangerous than the delta variant. The delta variant triggered the deadly second wave of Covid in 2021.

What is XBB variant after all

The new variant of the corona virus has been named XBB.1.5. It was first found in America. The XBB variant is a fusion of the two variants.

If you understand in simple language, then the variants of Corona BJ1 and BM1.1.1 met each other, then the DNA i.e. genetic material of these two were combined with each other and XBB variant was formed. Then the XBB variant mutated i.e. changed its form and became XBB1. It then mutated with G2502V, after which it became the XBB.1.5 variant.

Reduced ability to infect lungs

In the study done on this variant, it was also found that the ability of XBB variant to infect the lungs is less than that of BA.2.75. For genome sequencing, Dr. Rajesh Karthik, a senior scientist at BJ Medical College, Maharashtra, told that this study was the first study of its kind in India. In this, research was done on all the symptoms related to the variant. The data suggests that the XBB is lighter than both Omicron’s BA.2.75 and Delta, at least in India.

How many times has the corona virus mutated so far

Alpha Variant: In the month of September 2020, the alpha variant of Kovid came. It created panic all over the world. This variant of Corona is known in scientific language as B.1.1.7. It was first found in Britain, after which it spread all over the world. This variant of Corona had caused a lot of havoc in America.

Beta Variant: Another variant of corona virus is beta. It was first discovered in South Africa in the year 2020. Its scientific name is B.1.351. This form of corona had two strains E484K and N501Y. It was much more contagious than all the old variants that came before it.

Gamma Variant: This form of corona virus was first found in Brazil. The scientific name of gamma variant is P.1. Its two strains E484K and N501Y are considered very dangerous sub-variants. These two strains of Gamma have minor effect even after vaccination.

Lambda Variant: This variant was first detected in Peru in August 2020. However, in the month of March 2021, its infection started intensifying. In the same year, the scientific name C.37 was given to the lambda variant.

Delta Variant: This variant of Kovid was first found in India. This variant was identified in the month of October 2020. The scientific name of this variant is B.1.617.2. Delta variant is considered to be the most contagious and dangerous variant worldwide. This variant has killed crores of people in India. And this variant was found in 100 countries of the world.

MU Variant: This variant was first found in Colombia. The MU variant was also identified in January 2021 and WHO gave the scientific name B.1.621 to this variant.

Omicron Variants: The scientific name of this variant of Corona has been named B.1.1.529 and the World Health Organization has named it Omicron. This is considered to be the most infectious variant of Corona so far. It was first identified in South Africa. So far, many different sub-variants of Omicron have been revealed, which include BA.1, BA.2, BA.4, BA.5, XE and Omicron BF.7.

Like Corona, this virus increased concern

Marburg virus According to the World Health Organization, this virus is making people sick in Equatorial Guinea. According to WHO, at least nine people have died due to this Ebola-related virus and one person has been found positive.

According to the CDC, being infected with the Marburg virus would have caused a rare type of fever in the patient. This RNA virus is a member of the phylovirus family, which also includes Ebola virus. Marburg virus disease infection was first reported in 1967 in Marburg and Frankfurt in Germany and Belgrade in Serbia. The virus first spread through laboratory experiments on African green monkeys.

H3N2 virus- In India, diseases like adenovirus and influenza are spreading since the corona infection. Most of these cases are happening due to H3N2 virus. H3N2 is a type of influenza A virus. It is a respiratory viral infection that causes diseases every year. This type of influenza A virus subtype was found in humans during the year 1968.

Symptoms of getting infected with this virus include cough, runny nose, sore throat, headache, body aches, fever, chills, fatigue, diarrhea and vomiting. Influenza virus is divided into 4 types A, B, C and D. Influenza virus A and B are caused to patients due to the seasonal epidemic of flu, in which most of the patients have difficulty in breathing.
