CBI Director Praveen Sood: karnataka assembly elections After the results of 2023, the Congress party is being discussed the most. Along with this, there is another name which has become a topic of discussion at this time. That name is Praveen Sood. In fact, Karnataka DGP Praveen Sood has been appointed as the next director of the Central Investigation Agency CBI. After the Congress got majority in the state, the central government issued an order for his appointment on Sunday (May 14).
A high-level meeting was held on Saturday (May 13) evening to appoint a new CBI director. prime minister in Narendra Modi, Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Leader of Opposition Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary attended. In the meeting, the names were discussed to choose the new director of CBI and later the name of Praveen Sood was sealed.
DK Shivakumar called Praveen Sood ‘worthless’
Apart from this, DK Shivakumar, on whose head the victory of the Congress in Karnataka is being tied, had criticized Praveen a lot. DK Shivakumar even called him ‘Nalayak’. Shivkumar had said that our DGP is not fit for this post. He has been DGP for three years, but works like a BJP worker. There should be an FIR against him.
Shivakumar had alleged that Sood had registered 25 cases against Congress workers, but not a single case against BJP leaders. We have also complained to the Election Commission. He had demanded the arrest of Praveen Sood. Shivkumar had said that if the Congress government is formed after the elections, strict action will be taken against Sood.
Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary protested
1986 batch IPS officer Praveen Sood is going to hold this post for two years. Although he was to retire in May 2024, but after this appointment, his tenure has been extended till May 2025. He will replace the current CBI director Subodh Kumar Jaiswal on May 25. Apart from Praveen Sood, Madhya Pradesh DGP Sudhir Kumar Saxena, the names of Taj Hasan, DG of Fire Service, Civil Defense and Home Guards were also included for this post.
Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary opposed Praveen Sood’s name. who were also present in this meeting. According to a Live Mint report, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary had said that he was not part of the pool of IPS officers who could serve as DGP at the Centre.
